Custom modules

Software that fits how you actually work.

When your program needs something the standard hubs don't do, we build it. A custom module is a first-class part of your Portanus workspace — it uses the same permissions, notifications, search, and audit as every other hub, and it stays compatible through platform upgrades.

How it works

From idea to a maintained module

1

Discovery — $250

We scope your needs into a written specification, assign a build tier, and give you a fixed quote. The credit applies to your build if you sign within 90 days.

2

Build

Fixed price by tier, billed 50% to schedule and 50% on acceptance. The spec is the acceptance baseline, and you get a 30-day defects-vs-spec warranty.

3

Live & maintained

Your module ships with user docs and a training session, and stays compatible through platform upgrades under the $75/month module license.

Build tiers

Fixed price, sized to the work

Discovery assigns the tier and locks the quote — no surprises once we start.

Small

A focused addition to your workspace.

$2,500 one-time
  • One model cluster with full CRUD
  • A dashboard widget
  • Notifications
+ $75/mo license once live.
Large

Integrations and complex logic.

$12,500 one-time
  • External integrations
  • Complex state machines
  • Large, multi-part scope
+ $75/mo license once live.
Not a bolt-on

A first-class part of your workspace

Custom modules aren't sandboxed integrations — they're built on the same platform as every standard hub, so they behave like the rest of your workspace.

Permissions

Role-based access, same as every hub.

Notifications

Email, in-app, and the same preferences.

Global search

Its records show up in your search.

Audit trails

Sensitive changes are logged like everything else.

Common questions

Is discovery refundable if we don't build?
Discovery is a paid engagement that produces a real spec you keep. The $250 is credited toward the build if you sign within 90 days; if you don't build, you still walk away with the specification.
What does the $75/month license cover?
Hosting, security patching, and keeping your module compatible as the platform evolves. It's what makes a custom build a lasting part of your workspace rather than a one-off that breaks on the next upgrade.
Who owns the module?
Ownership and any productization terms are set in the build agreement (drafted with counsel). The service page defines the tiers and process; the contract governs rights.
How do you decide the tier?
That's what discovery is for. We turn your needs into a spec, size it (small / standard / large), and give you a fixed quote before any build work begins.
